A remarkable first year 1963 Gibson Firebird III in Cherry! Gibson tried releasing “radical” shaped guitars with the Flying V and Explorer in the late 1950s, but the results were disappointing to say the least. Just five years later, Gibson would try again with a new neck-through design in various tiers and offerings; the Firebird. Designed by automotive veteran Ray Dietrich, the overall form was said to evoke tail fins popular on cars in the late 1950s and early 1960s. This Reverse Firebird III is in great shape, and still has a ton of vibrancy left in its Cherry finish! Two extremely well balanced mini-humbuckers give this guitar an incredible tone, with a 6.35K in the bridge, and a 6.36K in the neck position. The neck profile is a smooth medium C that offers exceptional control and feel up and down the neck. The larger frets help to make playing an incredibly enjoyable experience!
It weighs in at 8 lbs 6 oz, and comes with original Gibson hardshell case.
